The Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Mrs. Simeonova, conducted a welcoming speech to open the confernce, titled: “The Contribution of Bulgaria to the Implementation of the International and European Standards for Protection of Women against Violence.”

The specific objectives of this initiative are to encourage the process of legislative changes in Bulgaria for more effective protection of the women from violence, to strengthen the processes of unification of the civil society concerned with that issue and to encourage the cooperation between State institutions and NGOs in Bulgaria.

Invited to take part in this conference have been different representatives from the legislative and executive powers, members of Commissions at the National Assembly as well as representatives from the Alliance for Protection against Domestic Violence, other Bulgarian NGOs, concerned with the violence against women, journalists and popular public figures.
